CruiseCopenhagen changes name to Cruise Denmark - Copenhagen and beyond
The former cruise network CruiseCopenhagen rebrands to Cruise Denmark - Copenhagen and beyond to strategically focus on nationwide cruise tourism.
Building on the success of Copenhagen's thriving cruise sector and through dedicated cruise professionals, Danish destinations outside Copenhagen have experienced an increase in cruise tourism in recent years.
To support this growth, promote sustainable tourism, and reflect the growing popularity beyond the capital, the association members have decided to rebrand from CruiseCopenhagen to Cruise Denmark – Copenhagen and beyond. This change was officially adopted at our recent General Assembly held in Copenhagen on the 24th of May, 2024.
As cruise tourism is expanding across the country, it’s wonderful to adopt a name that more accurately represents us as Denmark's comprehensive cruise network. This unity helps create unique, efficient, and memorable experiences for our many cruise guests, remarks Karim Nielsen, CEO of Kølpin Hotels and Chairman of Cruise Denmark – Copenhagen and beyond.
After challenging years during the pandemic, cruise tourism is making a strong comeback in Denmark. In 2024, we anticipate 492 cruise calls and approximately 1.2 million cruise guests across the 10 Danish ports that are part of Cruise Denmark – Copenhagen and beyond. Notably, around 500.000 of these guests will visit ports outside Copenhagen, a new record and a 125% increase compared to pre-COVID-19 figures.
This nationwide and sustainable approach is a significant step towards ensuring that cruise tourism in Denmark grows and evolves in a way that benefits both tourists and local communities.
Cruise Denmark - Copenhagen and beyond is a B2B cruise network in Denmark that was founded in 1992 to develop Denmark’s position as a cruise destination. Cruise Denmark consists of approximately 50 dedicated partners working within all key sectors of the Danish cruise industry, including 10 cruise ports and destinations.
