Citizen Engagement
Community involvement is essential to ensure shared responsibility for tourism development. Through cocreation processes, CULTIGEN promotes the harmonisation of the wishes and needs of residents and visitors.
CULTIGEN aims to develop a blueprint model for sustainable tourism management – understood as promoting citizen involvement and effective practices for the distribution of tourists – through citizen engagement and collaboration with stakeholders.
The activities include analysis of best practices, citizen assemblies, learning laboratories, and urban planning discussions. The final blueprint model will serve as a valuable resource for both the city of Copenhagen and other EU member states seeking insights into sustainable tourism development.
What is CULTIGEN?
CULTIGEN integrates digital innovation and participatory frameworks to redefine tourism across Copenhagen. Solutions focus on empowering communities and dispersing visitor activities, ensuring long-term sustainable tourism management and planning for residents and visitors alike. The aim is to balance tourist flows citywide and attract visitors whose interests align with local values, fostering sustainable and inclusive tourism growth.
