Sustainable Tourism
By fostering sustainable tourism skills through training and empowerment, CULTIGEN supports local stakeholders in creating unique experiences that enhance the city’s diversity.
CULTIGEN aims to promote sustainable tourism as a driver for local development, with a focus on socio-cultural, economic, and environmental aspects in Copenhagen’s non-central neighborhoods. This includes training and workshop activities that support local stakeholders in developing partnerships, products, and marketing strategies that can attract tourists in a responsible and sustainable way.
Overall, CULTIGEN aims to enhance the skills of tourism actors in Copenhagen's non-central areas, so they can increase their revenue and attract more international visitors, thereby benefiting the entire city of Copenhagen.
The activities planned to reach these objectives include:
- A data-driven market and opportunity analysis that collects, processes and analyses various data sources and demographics within Copenhagen, including insights from the ULT .
- Co-design of training materials and formats and the training of relevant local stakeholders to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed for participation in sustainable tourism activities.
- Workshops on social media, partnership development, and product adjustments to meet market trends (e.g., sustainable certifi cations), as well as masterclasses and a mentor programme pairing smaller attractions and shops with experienced stakeholders.
- A business and sustainability model/plan for sustainable tourism development built on the project's insights.
- Accelerating new sustainable tourism start-ups by means of a capacity-building and upskilling program that includes an open call, mentorship sprint and an industry-wide pitch event.
