The Carlsberg City District in Copenhagen
A strong cultural heritage comes to life in the recently renovated neighborhood, The Carlsberg City District, a place embedded in the history, culture...
The popular tourist attraction, Visit Carlsberg, is, after five years of extensive modernization, ready to re-open as Home of Carlsberg with a new and larger exhibition and a historical area to unfold the story of Carlsberg.
Since 1847, The Carlsberg Brewery brand has brewed beer at the top of Valby Bakke, which today is known as the Carlsberg City District in Copenhagen. The brewers J.C. Jacobsen and Carl Jacobsen created a place where passion, culture and science came together to follow the ever-burning desire in the search for perfection. And the place became the home of the refinement of everything Carlsberg continues to brew with today.
This is the fertile ground for Home of Carlsberg’s new attraction, which allows locals and tourists to see, hear, and taste the story of J.C. Jacobsen and his family. The attraction will, among other things, include a new interactive exhibition, which has been expanded from 1000 to 3000 m2 and tells the story of Carlsberg in the past, present, and future. Furthermore, Home of Carlsberg will also include a historic and protected area with a new restaurant and bar, the opportunity to experience the horse stable with the majestic brewing horses, their spectacular bottle collection, architectural buildings, beer tastings, as well as guided tours in the old cellars, which will reveal old secrets and stories.

The new exhibition unfolds through digital layers, insight into the basic ingredients of beer and engaging storytelling about family feuds, scientific breakthroughs and much more. It is an exhibition that provides a rare insight into the first steps of modern beer brewing and Carlsberg's work within science, art, and civil society through the rest of the Carlsberg family. The ambition is to create an inspiring and innovative place where you can awaken your senses and explore the story and experience the world's third-largest brewery and the wide-ranging Carlsberg family.
